Maria is a Los Angeles-based architect and educator. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan, and relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a Master of Architecture from UCLA. During her time in graduate school, she fell in love with and was intent on pursuing a career in the city.
Maria graduated from UCLA in 2015 with the top thesis prize, and since then has worked in the Los Angeles offices of SOM and most recently as a Project Architect at NBBJ. She was interested in exploring human experience and the intersection of public and private realms via design of large-scale buildings in urban environments. She has worked within a range of programmatic spheres including government, office, medical, and educational buildings.
Recently she has shifted to smaller scale work, focusing on residential projects in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, and is currently collaborating with small female-led practices. Maria is dedicated to discovering the essence of space and place within each project, with an emphasis on material expression and clarity of details.
Maria is licensed in California and Michigan. She is currently a lecturer at Cal Poly Pomona, teaching Construction Lecture and 2nd year Design Studio courses.
